Ophthalmology

Technological progress have led to a large amount of medical devices that generate more than 50 petabytes of data every year. The processing of big data requires the use of new theoretical approaches, methods and technologies that can expand human intelligence. In ophthalmology, artificial intelligence is one of the tools to improve the efficiency of the treatment process through more accurate diagnosis, assessment of new disease biomarkers, automation of decision-making processes and assistance in other aspects of the doctor’s daily activities. In addition, one of the most important factors in the introduction of artificial intelligence is the decentralization of specialist experience to wider geographically distributed areas.

Artificial intelligence

1956 was marked the emergence of the concept of “Artificial Intelligence” and at the same time was the starting point for the development of a new era – Industry 4.0. Artificial intelligence offers a number of advantages over traditional analytics. This is mainly achieved by increasing the accuracy of machine learning models as they interact with the data. Artificial intelligence will usher in a new era in patient management by automating and accelerating decision-making processes.

Security

The use of information technologies in the field of healthcare provides an opportunity to improve the quality of patient care, significantly speed up the work of medical staff and reduce costs for patients. At the same time, the era of digital transformation is characterized by increasing complexity, increasing scale and the growth of coordinated computer attacks. According to a Kaspersky Lab report, from June to December 2021, more than 150,000 medical-themed phishing attacks were recorded. Thus, ensuring information security for solutions based on artificial intelligence is extremely important to reduce the risk of threats.

Digital Transformation Strategy and Regulatory Issues

Artificial intelligence in general, as well as machine learning methods, can facilitate the routine work of doctors, and also represent tools for medical institutions administrative managment processes. Such processes include planning, maintaining electronic health records, accounting, payroll, arranging payment for medical services, as well as compliance with safety and technical functioning standards. Artificial intelligence can help increase the efficiency, automation and functionality of the enterprise.
